A The Tellermine 43 was a German circular steel cased anti-tank blast mine used during the Second World War.

History

It is a simplified version of the Tellermine 42, which enabled simpler production techniques. Between March 1943 and the end of the war, over 3.6 million Tellermine 43s were produced by Germany. Copies of the mine were produced by several countries including Denmark (M/47), France (Model 1948) and Yugoslavia (TMM-1). The mine is found in Egypt and Libya.

The casing of the mine is circular, rising towards the center with a large flat pressure plate. A rectangular metal carrying handle is fitted to the side of the mine. The pressure plate sits over the fuze well which can hold either a T.Mi.Z.42 shear pin fuse or T.Mi.Z.43 ball release fuze. At the bottom of the fuse well is a PETN booster charge, surrounded by the doughnut shaped main charge of TNT. The mine has secondary fuse wells on the side and base to enable anti-handling devices to be fitted. Additionally, the T.Mi.Z.43 fuse functions as an anti-tampering device, detonating the mine if the pressure plate is lifted. The mine can also be fitted with a tilt rod fuse, screwed into to the side fuse well.

Tactics & Tips

  • Teller mines do extreme damage, and have an large area of effect, but can only be set off by vehicles, AT guns, and tanks. It also has a very high chance to destroy the engine of any tank it hits, or immobilize it, stopping tank attacks in a heartbeat. If it's a combined arms assault of both infantry and tanks, the infantry are annihilated by the shock force of the weapon as well. This makes the teller mine a very fearsome weapon.
  • Teller mines are very powerful, however they are also costly. Spamming them versus a player with any arty at his disposal could prove to be fatal to the user.
  • Teller mines have enough damage to kill a skirted M8 Greyhound and M10 Tank Destroyer instantly. It can result in a destroyed engine with 20 percent health left for Cromwells, Churchills and M4 Shermans. A Pershing might drive away with only engine damage and half health.
  • Try to place them on roads. Tanks automatically use roads for there speed bonus, so you are sure to hit them there.
