A sniper is an individual who specializes in shooting targets with high-precision rifles from very long distances, usually from a concealed location. Most are skilled in carrying out stealth and camouflage tactics on a battlefield zone. Military snipers are also adept at carrying out methods of infiltration, reconnaissance, and observation techniques.

History

During World War Two the United States armed forces, sniper training was only very elementary and focused on being able to hit targets over long distances. Snipers were required to be able to hit a body over 400 meters, and a head over 200. There was almost no concern with the ability to blend into the environment. Sniper training also varied from place to place, resulting in a wide range of qualities of snipers. The main reason the US did not extend their training beyond long-range shooting was the limited employment of US soldiers until the Normandy Invasion.

Tactics & Tips

  • Never let your sniper work alone! Always use spotters and pick targets off from his maximum range.
  • Snipers in cover will regain camouflage faster after each shot than snipers in the open. This can be the difference between a MG getting off a deadly burst on him or not.
  • If used for reconnaissances, always activate hold fire to avoid unwanted attention.
  • Sniper cannot kill turret gunners, so don't shoot at vehicles.
  • Mortars and AT guns can be cleared with just two shots.
  • When counter-sniping, use a bait such as engineers or riflemen to get the enemy sniper out of their cloak and quickly target his with your sniper.
  • In matches with a RCA British ally, use your sniper to scout the enemy troops for battery fire.
  • Placing a sniper in a building is risky, it will quickly become an identifiable target.
  • Knights Cross Holders have a modifier that allows them to survive sniper shots. Do not target this kind of infantry unless under extreme need.
