The SdKfz 250 was a light armored half track, very similar in appearance to the larger Hanomag-designed SdKfz 251, and built by the DEMAG firm, for use by Germany in World War II. The 250 had 4 road wheels and a cargo capacity of one ton.

History
Compared to U.S. halftracks, the SdKfz 250 series was less mobile, with unpowered front wheels. However, its tracks made it far more mobile than the armored cars it replaced, and it was a popular vehicle. Most variants were open-topped and had a single access door in the rear.
Adopted in 1939 to supplement the standard half track, it was based on the 1938 Sd.Kfz. 10 prime mover and intended to carry an infantry section in company with an armored car. Production delays meant the first 250 did not appear until mid 1941.
The SdKfz 250 half track was a lighter design than the standard SdKfz 251 half track that was used for troop transport. Its carrying capacity was only six men (including both the driver and gunner) so infantry squads normally required two of them to transport the whole squad. It was primarily used by Panzeraufklärungsabteilung (Mechanized Reconnaissance Battalions) in Panzer, and Panzergrenadier divisions.
Tactics & Tips
- Infantry can fire from the half track when inside.
- To increase the anti-tank effectiveness place a panzergrenadier squad upgraded with panzershrecks inside the half track. This allows the half track to become useful against enemy tanks. With its speed it can easily outflank unguarded heavy tanks.
- In the early game, support garrisoned Gewehr 43 panzergrenadiers with MP44 Panzer Grenadiers inside the half track. They can provide deadly close range damage, and can be covered by the Gewehr 43's in case the half track's health runs low.
