Map Description
Background
In the heart of French Bocage country lies the small town of Villers Bocage. Allied High Command has placed Villers Bocage as an important part of the plan to encircle Caen. Controlling Rn 175 is vital to further allied advance from the sea. Be warned, however elements of the elite Panzer Lehr division have been seen in the area. A famed Tiger Ace is rumored to be in the area.
The battle of Villers Bocage is most well known for Michael Wittman's drive into the center of the city, in which he destroyed 24 or more vehicles. The British 7th Army faced off against the Panzer-Lehr-Division, 2nd Panzer Division and the Schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 101.
Overview
RN 175, a major road leading into Villers Bocage, runs through French hedgerow country. Fighting will take place from field to field. Hedgerows will block all but the heaviest of tanks. Though there are few strategically placed buildings in the map, the choke points created by hedgerows and fences should create ample opportunities for machine guns. Likewise, anti tank guns will have an easy time setting up on the two main roads that run through the map.
In the center of the map lies the small church area, with open firing lines to either side.
