M4A3E2 "Jumbo" Sherman variant has great frontal armor in order to protect it when going up against heavily armed and difficult enemy emplacements and targets.
History
The U.S. accepted in June-July 1944 a limited run of 254 M4A3E2 Jumbo Shermans, which had very thick armor, and the 75 mm gun in a new, heavier T23-style turret in order to assault fortifications. The (rare) M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo variant had even thicker frontal armor than the Tiger I. Intended for the assault to break out of the Normandy beachhead, it entered combat in August 1944.
Tactics & Tips
- Always keep it facing to the front. Its protection and frontal armor are this tank's greatest strength.
Statistic Changes
In OMG the "Jumbo" is a modified Sherman designed as a heavy infantry support tank. It has the same gun as a normal Sherman but with Panther armor. This improved armor has significant drawbacks such as a 25% decrease in both speed and acceleration. In addition, the vehicle cannot receive the the 76mm cannon.
We modified the Panzerfaust in regards to the Panther armor class from a damage modifier of 2.25 to 1.25 and an accuracy modifier from .5 to 1. This change was made to better reflect the intended role of the Panzerfaust and to bring it in line with the damage output against other Allied tanks.
