Ambush is a long-established military tactic, in which the aggressors (the ambushing force) use concealment to attack a passing enemy. Ambushers strike from concealed positions, such as among dense underbrush or behind hilltops.

In OMG the Ambush squads are a volunteer branch that are taught basic camouflage techniques. While they are not as proficient as Snipers and Spotters, they can vanish from sight under heavy to light cover. Each squad consists of three Riflemen that can be upgraded with either a BAR, Bazooka, or Sticky Bombs.

History

During the Battle of the Bulge American ambushes severely hampered the progress of German forces and slowed their advance. One of these was the ambush at Poteau.

"On December 18, 1944, very early in the morning, the American "14th Cavalry Group" had gotten in an ambush of the German "Kampfgruppe Hansen" on the road between Poteau and Recht. Propaganda movies were made by the Germans shortly after those fights and the numerous photos are often used as typical photos from the Battle of the Bulge."[1]

Tactics & Tips

  • Ambush squads can cloak in yellow or and green cover.
  • They are most effective while preforming ambushes. They generally aren't strong enough and too expensive for protracted combat.
  • Ambush squads and AT Guns make a natural pair. The AT Gun can engage enemy armor at range while the ambush squad prevents it from being flanked.
