Thought this could be its' own thread.

http://www.dayzmod.com/

I love this shit, It is creepy, difficult, suspenseful, open sandbox.
Basically it is a brutal PvP survival game. There are no safe zones. Anyone can shoot anyone at any time. Friendly people are difficult to find, relying on a 'trust' system where the first meeting could be with bullets.

When you die, your dead, start over.
Scavenge on the massive map of  Chernarus. Run or walk, fix a car and drive, fix a helicopter and own the skies.

Gives me huge STALKER esc. gameplay without the anomalies and mutants.

If you see IggyZiggy don't shoot, he a cool bro.

I should add... The mod works with the FREE edition of ArmA2 with the Operation Arrowhead expansion.
It does need Combined Operations to run.

But the free version of Arma 2 is just that, Arma 2- not OA....or am I wrong?

I mean, CO is basically Arma 2 + OA right?

Ya, there is Free version of ArmA2
Then there is Operation Arrowhead.
When you have both, free or full for arma2, you can run Combined Operations which uses the engine from OA and files from Arma2.

So you could just have the bought OA and use the Free ArmA2 version. If you say... only had OA.

Given up on it for now. Currently there are some fundamental flaws that sort of make no point in playing the game (flaws such as a lack of goal, countless ways to dupe shit that kinda kills the only "point" to the mod there was)

I've been playing it as more or less a "primary" game, I guess you'd say. If you run into Sandersson Jankins, try and hook up with me in my buddies TS, I'll throw you the info. We can be OPERATORS together. I'm a bandit, but I only shoot folks that are looking at me crossways, or have stuff that I want.

Oh, and be sure to get ARMA II Free, NOT the Arma II demo. You get lower resolution textures with it, but if you have a sketchy or older machine like I do, it's right up your alley. It looks purty either way.

There are problems with the game, but like all games; it's better with friends.

And sadly right now there is no purpose to just be a loner in the game, but having 2-3 friends play with you makes it much better.

There are also issues that go down to hard-to-solve problems such as bandit skins, dupes, some spawning errors, laggy zombies, and somewhat small servers.

Despite this, it's awesome.

It is Alpha :D

Cool man I'll look for you. It is MUCH better with a couple of buddies, be it organized, or on the fly.
It is open sandbox so you need to give yourself things to do, missions, goals. Otherwise it does become boring if all you do is sneak around.

Most players I am finding raid the main cities then head north. Apparently pretty big PvP wars are happening up there.

I was logged off in Elektro power-station, on the top floor of the tower while I went and smoked a bowl. Logged back in to hear my friend talking in TS about how a bandit just shot him with an automatic weapon in the same tower. I logged in, I spawned right next to the ***er, he was looting my buddy's body. I shot him once in center mass with my enfield, he dropped like a sack of bricks. He had literally every piece of survival gear, map, GPS, all that good shit. He also had a goddamn M16A4 with ACOG with 6 mags. I took his shit and ran for my god-dang life, didn't stop running north for an hour.
